Let's
Go Racing....
Race
fans I know you are getting that feeling in your
veins once again, because finally the best time of
year has rolled around. Yes it’s time to go RACING!
Everyone at the Jeremy Petty Incorporated Racing
team is extremely excited about the upcoming season
and all of its potential. Jeremy Petty and crew
headed off this past weekend to the second test of
the year for the ARCA Remax series at the Famed
Rockingham motor speedway which over the years has
earned the affectionate nick name from the racers
that have tried to tame it as “The Rock.”
Petty who crew chiefs for Chris Cockrum out of
Conyers, Georgia when his schedule permits and a few
members of his crew made the trip to “The Rock” for
the two day ARCA test. Petty and Cockrum, who have
worked together on several occasions, made a few
quick adjustments and got the the number 87 car up
to speed quickly; ending up 16th on the speed chart
for Saturday. At the culmination of the testing
weekend, both the JPI and Cockrum racing teams were
extremely pleased with the overall results of the
strong efforts of all of the crew present. “I think
we learned a lot of helpful information about the
track, car setup, tire wear, and many other factors
which will directly help us bring the fastest most
competitive race cars possible when we come back in
May!” commented Jeremy Petty. “Just to get a chance
to be here, at “The Rock,” is a special occasion for
all of the JPI team. I mean when you walk up to the
track and see the names of racing legends from “the
King,” Richard Petty to Earnhardt Sr. and all of the
other greats who have won and had their name
engraved in “the Rock”; it truly makes you feel like
a part of racing history. I have goose-bumps
already, for the chance to be part of the racers
that re-open this prestigious old track back up in
May at the inaugural Carolina 500! There are
thousands of legitimate racers who spend their
entire career grinding it out on tracks all over the
world and don’t ever get an opportunity to do
anything like this. And for that, myself as well as
the entire JPI racing team truly feel honored.”
added Petty.
In efforts of constantly improving, and heading
toward the ultimate goal of racing at the NASCAR
Sprint Cup level, the JPI race team has made some
additions and is aggressively pursuing numerous
different options to maximize the talents of
driver/owner Jeremy Petty. In the off season, Shaun
Reynolds, (former pro-baseball player, successful
entrepreneur, and long-time friend of Jeremy dating
back to their collegiate baseball playing days
together) was added as the new Vice President of
Marketing, Public Relations, and Publicity for JPI
Racing. “I have been around racing for a long time.
In fact, my dad used to drive the Grand National
series in the ‘60s at all of the big speedways
nationwide. I always said that it was easier to hide
an elephant in a haystack than a racer from my dad.
He could just spot racing talent right off the bat,
and he actually watched Jeremy race during his first
season on the dirt tracks of Kansas. After one race
he said, “That kid needs to stick with this; he’s
got it!” Although at that time I wasn’t sure exactly
what ‘it’ was, but every time I am at the track with
Jeremy I get a little better idea! He is truly one
of the most gifted and intelligent racers on and off
the track that I have ever met; and I look forward
to using my talents to help JPI and Jeremy reach the
ultimate goal of being on the NASCAR Sprint Cup
series. And I truly believe with the entire JPI team
efforts and a little bit of luck (which every pro
athlete needs) it will happen soon! That is the
reason that I am here!” said Shaun.
The JPI team just received some very exciting news;
that in fact, Jeremy Petty will be featured in an
upcoming movie produced by Sony Pictures (as a race
car driver of course.) We at the JPI family are
extremely excited for the exposure that this will
bring on a world-wide basis for both the team and
the sponsors associated with JPI. With all of the
opportunities at our doorstep, we are all excited
about what this season will bring!
