Soddy Daisy, TN: Jeremy Petty wrapped up his rookie campaign in the ARCA RE/MAX Series this past Sunday with a hard fought 26th place finish at Rockingham Speedway. It was the 20th event of 2009 for Jeremy, and solidified his 13th place finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Points race. Jeremy’s 13th place finish in the final Points Standings was even more impressive when considering that he did not even enter or attempt to compete in the season opening race at Daytona in February. Digging himself out of the hole all year, Jeremy consistently climbed through the points standings, and finished higher than several drivers who did attempt every event on the schedule. Way under funded compared to the bigger teams he was racing, Jeremy managed to make his climb by racing smart, taking care of his equipment, and finishing races. Petty posted 12 top 20 runs showing that he could consistently bring the car home in one piece. Jeremy’s best finishes of the year were three 12th place finishes he posted on the short tracks at Toledo Speedway in May, Mansfield Motorsports Park in June, and at Salem Speedway in September. In addition to that, Jeremy posted only 1 DNF all season, that due to an engine failure at the fall Toledo event while once again running in the top 20.
