Jeremy gets his first NCWTS start at Darlington

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Darlington, SC (August, 15 2010)—- Jeremy Petty made his debut Saturday night at the famed “Lady in Black”, in the Nascar Camping World Truck Series. We caught up with him immediately following the race and asked him what his first time out in a truck was really like. “I had a great time this weekend, it felt great to be in a truck especially here at Darlington.” Petty had a very respectable 17th place finish in the KOMA Chillaxation Drink Chevrolet, which was a huge leap from his 30th place starting position. Petty seemed overwhelmed when stating “To make my Nascar debut here is just awesome, I have always loved this place, now I’m in love with it. My grandpa would bring me here all of the time when I was a kid; it’s always been a goal of mine to race here.”
The weekend wasn’t entirely the most pleasant weekend as Jeremy fought a touch of the flu bug all weekend long, and in the South Carolina heat that makes for long days. “I wasn’t feeling the greatest before practice, so I made sure to get plenty of rest, and ended up having plenty of go in me for the race.” While the temperatures were not the hottest seen all season, they were definitely close, with the real feel of the heat topping the century mark almost the entire time he was there.
When asked if this was a permanent home for him in the NCWTS, Jeremy replied “I wish that this team were a home, but they were a great group who afforded us an opportunity that we just couldn’t pass up.” Petty then went on to say “We are racing some more truck races this year for sure, the guys back home just haven’t got all of the details worked out yet.” He also said not to “rule out” him driving some local dirt races when he got back home to Kansas. “What I really want to do is thank everybody who made this race possible, because without C&R Plating and Crosson Farms out of Minneapolis, Ks, as well as Salina Iron and Metal we never would have been able to do this.” We all here at JPI would like to echo those same sentiments, as well as thanking Daisy Ramirez Motorsports for the opportunity, for Jeremy to take his career forward.
